Arasinda – A Teleportation-Based 2.5D Action Platformer
Arasinda is a 2.5D action platformer developed for PC over 3 months as a collaborative effort involving 5 game designers, 2 game programmers, and 1 music and sound designer. The game places players in the role of a desert guardian tasked with scaling ancient ruins to close a portal unleashing a demonic invasion. The game's USP is the ability to teleport between planes, allowing for innovative and challenging level design situations.br> In this project, I wore multiple hats as both project manager and game designer.
My contributions included:
- Managing the project backlog and task assignments using Excel and Trello, ensuring smooth collaboration across disciplines.
- Creating detailed documentation using Miro and PowerPoint to communicate gameplay intentions to programmers and artistic direction to the sound designer.
- Contributing to level design by crafting Level 3, ensuring consistency with levels designed by my teammates.
- Collaborating on game mechanics, refining the teleportation system and core gameplay loops.
- Working directly in Unity to integrate visual assets and levels, bridging design and technical implementation.
- Taking responsibility for the art direction, producing all pixel art assets and animations for the player and enemies alongside one other game designer. This was a significant workload but earned us praise from the jury for creating a game that was both fun and visually appealing without dedicated artists.
- Honing my public speaking skills by delivering a live presentation of the game to a large audience.
Arasinda demonstrated my ability to lead and execute a complex creative vision while balancing design, technical, and artistic responsibilities. The game’s engaging mechanics and polished visuals reflect the teamwork and dedication poured into every aspect of the project.
